Crude oil refinery output declines 2.1% in April-July 2019
India's crude oil refinery output declined 1.0% to 22.08 mt in July 2019 over July 2018. The output of public sector refineries increased 3.4% to 12.70 mt, while the output of private refineries declined 7.0% to 7.87 mt. The refinery output of public-private JV refiners also fell 2.9% to 1.51 mt in July 2019.Among public refineries, the output of Numaligarh Refineries moved up 9.3% to 0.25 mt, Indian Oil Corporation 5.2% to 6.11 mt and Bharat Petroleum Corporation 2.7% to 2.59 mt in July 2019 over July 2018. Further, the output of Hindustan Petroleum Corporation also increased 1.5% to 1.55 mt and Mangalore Refineries 1.3% to 1.31 mt, but that of Chennai Petroleum Corporation declined 2.2% to 0.88 mt in July 2019.
Among private refiners, the output of Reliance Petroleum dipped 9.0% to 6.10 mt, while that of Essar Oil rose 0.7% to 1.77 mt in July 2019 over July 2018.
Among JV refineries, the output of Bharat Oman declined 20.8% to 0.47 mt, while the output of HPCL Mittal increased 8.3% to 1.03 mt in July 2019.
The cumulative refinery output declined 2.1% to 84.42 mt in April-July 2019. The output of public refineries fell 4.4% to 45.09 mt, while that of private refineries also declined 0.3% to 32.93 mt. The refinery output of JV refineries moved up 5.6% to 6.40 mt in April-July 2019. Among public refineries, the output of Mangalore Refineries declined 23.4%, Hindustan Petroleum Corporation 9.9%, Bharat Petroleum Corporation 2.0% and Indian Oil Corporation 1.1%, while that of Numaligarh Refineries moved up 1.5% and Chennai Petroleum Corporation 0.5%.
The overall capacity utilization was lower at 102.8% in July 2019 compared with 106.6% in July 2018, while it was lower at 101.5% in April-July 2019 compared with 104.4% in April-July 2018.
