Crude oil refinery output rises 5.3% in April-November 2018
India's crude oil refinery output rose 2.3% to 21.45 million tonnes (mt) in November 2018 over November 2017. The output of public sector refineries moved up 4.0% to 12.18 mt, while the output of public-private JV refiners jumped 27.9% to 1.43 mt. However, the refinery output of private refineries declined 3.5% to 7.84 mt in November 2018.Among public refineries, the output of Hindustan Petroleum Corporation increased 16.5% to 1.47 mt, Numaligarh Refineries 10.7% to 0.26 mt, Indian Oil Corporation 5.2% to 6.13 mt, Bharat Petroleum Corporation 5.0% to 2.49 mt and Mangalore Refineries 2.0% to 1.28 mt in November 2018 over November 2017. However, the output of Chennai Petroleum Corporation dipped 27.5% to 0.56 mt in November 2018.
Among private refiners, the output of Reliance Petroleum increased 5.7% to 6.90 mt, while that of Essar Oil declined 41.3% to 0.94 mt in November 2018 over November 2017.
Among JV refineries, the output of Bharat Oman surged 165.8% to 0.41 mt, while the output of HPCL Mittal rose 5.8% to 1.02 mt in November 2018.
The cumulative refinery output increased 5.3% to 171.99 mt in April-November 2018. The output of public refineries gained 5.5% to 95.00 mt, while that of private refineries moved up 2.5% to 66.33 mt. The refinery output of JV refineries jumped 23.5% to 10.67 mt in April-November 2018.

Among public refineries, the output of Bharat Petroleum Corporation improved 13.5%, Indian Oil Corporation 5.6%, Hindustan Petroleum Corporation 3.0%, Mangalore Refineries 1.5% and Numaligarh Refineries 0.3%, but that of Chennai Petroleum Corporation declined 4.1%.
The overall capacity utilization was marginally at 103.7% in November 2018 compared with 110.4% in November 2017, while it was also lower at 103.7% in April-November 2018 compared with 106.0% in April-November 2017.
