Inflow from FIIs remains strong

Foreign institutional investors (FIIs) bought shares worth a net Rs 1240.50 crore on Thursday, 16 May 2013, compared with inflow of Rs 1700.90 crore on Wednesday, 15 May 2013.

The net inflow of Rs 1240.50 crore on Thursday, 16 May 2013, was a result of gross purchases of Rs 4021.70 crore and gross sales of Rs 2781.20 crore. There was a net inflow of Rs 1136.40 crore into the secondary equity markets on 16 May 2013, which was a result of gross purchases of Rs 3911.30 crore and gross sales of Rs 2774.90 crore. The S&P BSE Sensex had risen 34.37 points or 0.17% to settle at 20,247.33 on that day, its highest closing level since 5 January 2011.

 

There was an net inflow of Rs 104.10 crore into the category 'primary market others' on Thursday, 16 May 2013, which was a result of gross purchases Rs 110.40 crore and gross sales Rs 6.30 crore.

FIIs have purchased shares worth Rs 11992.60 crore in May 2013 so far (till 16 May 2013). FIIs bought shares worth Rs 5414.10 crore in April 2013.

FIIs have purchased shares worth a net Rs 73029 crore in 2013 so far (till 16 May 2013). FIIs bought shares worth a net Rs 128359.80 crore in calendar 2012.

There are a total of 1,770 foreign funds registered with the Securities & Exchange Board of India.
