The Japan share market finished session into negative territory on Wednesday, 14 February 2018, as risk sentiments hurt by the yen's strengthening against the dollar and as caution ahead of the release of key US inflation data. Transportation equipment, marine transportation and nonferrous metal-linked issues comprised those that declined the most by the close of play. The 225-issue Nikkei average lost 90.51 points, or 0.43%, to end at 21,154.17, its lowest closing level since 12 Oct. 2017. The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, lost 14.06 points, or 0.82%, to finish at 1,702.72. Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 2716 to 713 and 126 ended unchanged. The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was down 6.38% to 33.75.
