Jewellery stocks edge higher

Seven jewellery stocks rose 1.31% to 4.37% at 13:07 IST on BSE after the Economic Survey tabled in Parliament today, 27 February 2015 said that the overall trade performance signals an opportune time for withdrawal of restrictions on gold.

Shree Ganesh Jewellery House (I) (up 1.74%), Gitanjali Gems (up 2.91%), Tribhovandas Bhimji Zaveri (up 4.37%), PC Jeweller (up 2.11%), Tara Jewels (up 1.38%), Rajesh Exports (up 1.74%), and Titan Company (up 1.31%) edged higher.

Meanwhile, the S&P BSE Sensex was up 268.54 points or 0.93% at 29,015.19.

It may be recalled that the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) had on 18 February 2015, eased restrictions on gold imports. RBI said that nominated banks are permitted to import gold on consignment basis and that banks are free to grant gold metal loans.
