JK Cement drops after weak Q4 outcome

The result was announced after market hours on Saturday, 11 May 2013, when the stock exchanges held a special trading session for a short duration as the BSE was testing its disaster recovery software.

Meanwhile, the BSE Sensex was down 116.04 points or 0.58% to 20,006.28.

On BSE, 1,651 shares were traded in the counter as against average daily volume of 5,386 shares in the past one quarter.

The stock hit a high of Rs 285 and a low of Rs 279.45 so far during the day. The stock had hit a record high of Rs 369.80 on 24 December 2012. The stock had hit a 52-week low of Rs 123.15 on 25 May 2012.

 

The stock had outperformed the market over the past one month till 11 May 2013, gaining 15.75% compared with the Sensex's 8.52% rise. The scrip, however, underperformed the market in past one quarter, declining 7.12% as against Sensex's 3.4% gain.

The small-cap company has an equity capital of Rs 69.93 crore. Face value per share is Rs 10.

JK Cement's net profit rose 31.7% to Rs 233.55 crore on 14.4% growth in net sales to Rs 2904.04 crore in the year ended 31 March 2013 over the year ended 31 March 2012. Consolidated net profit jumped 32.2% to Rs 230.77 crore on 14.4% growth in net sales to Rs 2904.04 crore in the year ended 31 March 2013 over the year ended 31 March 2012.

JK Cement said that the Competition Commission of India (CCI) has upheld the complaint of Builders Association of India, alleging cartelisation by some cement manufacturing companies including JK Cement and imposed a penalty of Rs 128.54 crore on the company. Based on expert legal advice, the company believes that it has a strong case before the Competition Appellate Tribunal (COMPAT) and has filed an appeal against the order before COMPAT and accordingly did not make any provison in accounts.

JK Cement's board of directors at a meeting held on Saturday, 11 May 2013, recommended a dividend of Rs 6.50 per share for the year ended 31 March 2013.

JK Cement is engaged in manufacturing and selling cement.
