The total sown area as on 14th August, as per reports received from States, stands at 890.82 lakh hectare as compared to 863.61 lakh hectare at this time last year.
It is reported that rice has been sown/transplanted in 300.55 lakh ha, pulses in 97.44 lakh ha, coarse cereals in 163.75 lakh hectare, oilseeds in 163.78 lakh ha and cotton in 108.67 lakh ha.
