L&T gains after new order win

L&T rose 0.77% to Rs 1,020 at 10:43 IST on BSE after the company said L&T Construction won new orders worth Rs 2962 crore across various business segments.

The announcement was made during trading hours today, 6 January 2014.

Meanwhile, the BSE Sensex was down 41.84 points, or 0.20%, to 20,809.49.

On BSE, so far 1.01 lakh shares were traded in the counter, compared with an average volume of 2.80 lakh shares in the past one quarter.

The stock hit a high of Rs 1,025.90 and a low of Rs 1,001 so far during the day. The stock hit a 52-week high of Rs 1,152.40 on 9 December 2013. The stock hit a 52-week low of Rs 678.10 on 28 August 2013.

 

The stock had underperformed the market over the past one month till 3 January 2014, sliding 4.03% compared with the Sensex's 0.02% fall. The scrip had, however, outperformed the market in past one quarter, rising 22.24% as against Sensex's 4.77% rise.

The large-cap company has an equity capital of Rs 185.21 crore. Face value per share is Rs 2.

L&T Construction said its buildings & factories business bagged new orders worth 1555 crore. In the water & renewable energy business, new orders worth Rs 726 crore were received.

The power and transmission business bagged new orders worth Rs 258 crore. Additional orders worth Rs 423 crore were received from various ongoing projects in metallurgical & material handling, heavy civil and transportation infrastructure business of L&T Construction, the company said in a statement.

L&T's net profit declined 14.1% to Rs 977.51 crore on 10% growth in net sales to Rs 14509.51 crore in Q2 September 2013 over Q2 September 2012.

L&T is a $14 billion technology, engineering, construction, manufacturing and financial services conglomerate, with global operations.
