Market may gain slightly at open

Key indices may edge higher in early trade as trading of CNX Nifty futures on the Singapore stock exchange indicates that the Nifty could gain 15.50 points at the opening bell.

In overseas markets, most Asian stocks rose today, 11 September 2015 after overnight modest gains in US stocks after US data that offered no clarity on whether the Federal Reserve might raise interest rates next week.

Back home, foreign portfolio investors (FPIs) sold shares worth a net Rs 121.19 crore yesterday, 10 September 2015, as per provisional data released by the stock exchanges. Domestic institutional investors (DIIs) bought shares worth a net Rs 66.60 crore yesterday, 10 September 2015, as per the provisional data.

 

After an initial sharp slide, key benchmark indices recovered during the course of the trading session yesterday, 10 September 2015. The Sensex fell 97.41 points or 0.38% to settle at 25,622.17, its lowest closing level since 8 September 2015.

Among key macro economic announcements, the government is scheduled to unveil industrial production data for July 2015 at 17:30 IST today, 11 September 2015. Index of industrial production (IIP) rose at an accelerated pace of 3.8%, a four month high level, in June 2015 over a year ago compared with the revised growth of 2.5% in May 2015.
