Trading of Nifty 50 index futures on the Singapore stock exchange indicates that the Nifty could gain 42 points at the opening bell.
Overseas, most Asian stocks were trading higher on Tuesday as some investors held out hope that Britain still had a chance to avoid a messy exit from the European Union at key negotiations this week.
US stocks edged lower on Monday as uncertainties following recent US-China trade negotiations clouded sentiment and investors turned their focus on the third-quarter earnings season, which begins in earnest on Tuesday.
Back home,key benchmark indices ended with decent gains on Monday. Domestic shares tracked strength in other Asian stock markets which rose after progress on US-China trade talks. The indices, however, sharply pared gains in late trade amid profit selling at higher levels. The barometer index, the BSE Sensex, rose 87.39 points or 0.23% to 38,214.47. The Nifty 50 index rose 36.10 points or 0.32% to 11,341.15.
The trading activity on that day showed that the foreign portfolio investors (FPIs) bought shares worth a net Rs 895.63 crore yesterday, 14 October 2019, as per provisional data released by the stock exchanges. Domestic institutional investors (DIIs) sold shares worth a net Rs 425.15 crore yesterday, 14 October 2019, as per provisional data.
