Metal stocks were trading in the negative zone, with the S&P BSE Metal index falling 41.36 points or 0.39% at 10656.75 at 13:48 IST.
Among the components of the S&P BSE Metal index, National Aluminium Company Ltd (down 1.58%), Vedanta Ltd (down 1.17%), Coal India Ltd (down 1.05%), JSW Steel Ltd (down 0.96%), and NMDC Ltd (down 0.08%), were the top losers.
On the other hand, Steel Authority of India Ltd (up 0.98%), Hindustan Zinc Ltd (up 0.6%), and Tata Steel Ltd (up 0.34%) moved up.
At 13:48 IST, the S&P BSE Sensex was up 53.84 or 0.13% at 41986.4.
The Nifty 50 index was up 3.65 points or 0.03% at 12359.15.
The S&P BSE Small-Cap index was up 68.37 points or 0.47% at 14715.91.
The S&P BSE 150 Midcap Index index was up 30.15 points or 0.6% at 5045.28.
On BSE,1317 shares were trading in green, 1066 were trading in red and 168 were unchanged.
