Metal stocks were trading with losses, with the S&P BSE Metal index falling 61.16 points or 0.7% at 8732.89 at 13:47 IST.
Among the components of the S&P BSE Metal index, JSW Steel Ltd (down 2.78%), Steel Authority of India Ltd (down 2.3%),Jindal Steel & Power Ltd (down 1.56%),Tata Steel Ltd (down 1.41%),Vedanta Ltd (down 0.85%), were the top losers. Among the other losers were Hindalco Industries Ltd (down 0.64%), and Hindustan Zinc Ltd (down 0.02%).
On the other hand, NMDC Ltd (up 2.45%), National Aluminium Company Ltd (up 0.99%), and Coal India Ltd (up 0.76%) moved up.
At 13:47 IST, the S&P BSE Sensex was up 313.44 or 0.82% at 38527.91.
The Nifty 50 index was up 86.45 points or 0.76% at 11427.6.
The S&P BSE Small-Cap index was down 4.77 points or 0.04% at 12782.82.
The S&P BSE 150 Midcap Index index was up 14.62 points or 0.34% at 4353.53.
On BSE,1012 shares were trading in green, 1283 were trading in red and 166 were unchanged.
