Mid-Cap & Small-Cap stocks witness selling pressure

The BSE Mid-Cap and Small-Cap indices dropped by 2.29% to 3.5%, respectively at 15:05 IST on BSE, with both these indices registering higher fall than the Sensex's decline in percentage terms.

Meanwhile, the BSE Sensex was down 205.58 points, or 0.84%, to 24,249.46

The broad market depicted weakness. There were almost six losers against every gainer on BSE. 2,249 shares declined and 375 shares rose. A total of 135 shares were unchanged.

Top losers in the S&P BSE Mid-Cap index were Torrent Power (down 12.49%), Adani Power (down 9.17%), IDBI Bank (down 8.52%), Reliance Capital (down 7.91%) and Aditya Birla Nuvo (down 7.45%).

 

Top losers in the S&P BSE Small-Cap index were Visagar Polytex (down 19.36%), Morepen Laboratories (down 19.33%), MT Educare (down 17.74%), AXISCADES Engineering Technologies (down 17.11%) and R.S. Software (India) (down 17.1%).

The BSE Mid-Cap had outperformed the market over the past one month till 15 January 2016, falling 3.38% compared with Sensex's 3.42% fall. The index had also outperformed the market in past one quarter, declining 6.02% as against Sensex's 9.46% fall.

The BSE Small-Cap had underperformed the market over the past one month till 15 January 2016, falling 4.88% compared with Sensex's 3.42% fall. The index, however, outperformed the market in past one quarter, sliding 6.16% as against Sensex's 9.46% fall.
