Over 153 lakh tonne rice has been procured by the Government agencies during Kharif Marketing Season, 2013-14. As per data made available to the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution, total 153,83,678 tonne rice has been procured till November 14, 2013 during the season.
Highest procurement has been made in Punjab i.e. 116,77,420 tonne followed by Haryana 35,32,958 tonne and Tamil Nadu 73,570 tonne. Uttar Pradesh have also made significant procurement by procuring 43,170 tonne.
