Meanwhile, the S&P BSE Sensex was up 308.74 points or 0.86% at 36,359.18.
Mphasis surged 6.79% at Rs 877.95. The stock topped the gainers in 'A' group. On the BSE, 51,000 shares were traded on the counter so far as against the average daily volumes of 21,000 shares in the past two weeks.
Can Fin Homes spurted 4.56% at Rs 463.25. The stock was the second biggest gainer in 'A' group. On the BSE, 1.53 lakh shares were traded on the counter so far as against the average daily volumes of 1.44 lakh shares in the past two weeks.
Larsen & Toubro Infotech jumped 4.46% at Rs 1,277. The stock was the third biggest gainer in 'A' group. On the BSE, 31,000 shares were traded on the counter so far as against the average daily volumes of 28,000 shares in the past two weeks.
Welspun India climbed 4.11% at Rs 73.50. The stock was the fourth biggest gainer in 'A' group. On the BSE, 3.11 lakh shares were traded on the counter so far as against the average daily volumes of 5.51 lakh shares in the past two weeks.
Avenue Supermarts rose 3.93% at Rs 1,202.40 after net profit surged 65.8% to Rs 251.76 crore on 22.6% rise in net sales to Rs 4094.82 crore in Q3 December 2017 over Q3 December 2016. The result was announced after market hours on Thursday, 25 January 2018. The stock was the fifth biggest gainer in 'A' group. On the BSE, 3.2 lakh shares were traded on the counter so far as against the average daily volumes of 76,000 shares in the past two weeks.
