Muthoot Finance leads gainers in 'A' group

Tata Power Company, Shree Cement, Cadila Healthcare and Gujarat State Petronet are among the other gainers.

Gold loan company Muthoot Finance jumped 5.87% to Rs 164.25. The stock topped the gainers in the BSE's 'A' group.

Integrated power company Tata Power Company galloped 5.02% to Rs 82.65 after the company announcement during trading hours today, 24 February 2014, that the electricity regulator allowed it to raise tariffs and receive compensation to make up for losses incurred at its flagship Mundra plant in Gujarat. The stock was second biggest gainer in 'A' group.

Separately, Tata Power announced after market hours today that its board will meet on 27 February 2014 to consider various fund raising options including but not limited to equity issuances by way of a rights issue, preferential issue, qualified institutions placement or any combination thereof.

 

Rajasthan-based Shree Cement spurted 4.99% to Rs 4772.05. The stock was third biggest gainer in 'A' group.

Pharmaceutical company Cadila Healthcare climbed 4.69% to Rs 995.10. The stock was fourth biggest gainer in 'A' group. The stock hit a record high of Rs 1,009 in intraday today.

The company announced after market hours today said that Zydus Cadila has received final approval from the US drug regulator to market Clonidine Hcl injections. According to the announcement made by the company, the US Food and Drug Administration (USFDA) has given approval to market Clonidine Hcl injection 0.1 and 0.5 mg/ml, 10 ml.

Clonidine hydrochloride injection is a centrally-acting analgesic solution for use in continuous epidural infusion devices, which is indicated in combination with opiates for the treatment of severe pain in cancer patients that is not adequately relieved by opioid analgesics alone, the company statement said.

Gujarat State Petronet (GSPL), which operates natural gas transmission network, rose 4.53% to Rs 60, extending Friday's 4.94% rise triggered by Appellate Tribunal for Electricity granting an interim stay on the Petroleum and Natural Gas Regulatory Board's order. The stock was fifth biggest gainer in 'A' group.

GSPL made the announcement after market hours on Thursday, 20 February 2014. Shares of GSPL rose 4.94% to Rs 57.40 on Friday, 21 February 2014. The stock has risen 9.69% in two trading sessions from Rs 54.70 on Thursday, 20 February 2014.
