National Fertilizers gains after strong Q2 result

National Fertilizers rose 1.62% to Rs 62.80 at 10:51 IST on BSE after net profit surged 46.09% to Rs 66.72 crore on 12.23% rise in total income to Rs 2142.32 crore in Q2 September 2017 over Q2 September 2016.

The result was announced after market hours on Friday, 10 November 2017.

Meanwhile, the S&P BSE Sensex was down 112.31 points, or 0.34% to 33,202.25. The S&P BSE Mid-Cap index was down 17.05 points, or 0.1% to 16,545.64.

On the BSE, 1.27 lakh shares were traded in the counter so far, compared with average daily volumes of 1.72 lakh shares in the past one quarter. The stock had hit a high of Rs 64.40 and a low of Rs 62.70 so far during the day. The stock had hit a 52-week high of Rs 89.50 on 11 May 2017. The stock had hit a 52-week low of Rs 29.65 on 22 November 2016.

 

The stock had underperformed the market over the past one month till 10 November 2017, falling 2.14% compared with 4.35% gains in the Sensex. The scrip had also underperformed the market in past one quarter, declining 1.12% as against Sensex's 5.66% rise. The scrip had, however, outperformed the market in past one year, gaining 82.3% as against Sensex's 21.07% rise.

The mid-cap company has equity capital of Rs 490.58 crore. Face value per share is Rs 10.

The government of India held 74.71% stake in the firm as per the shareholding pattern as on 30 September 2017.

National Fertilizers is engaged in manufacturing and marketing of Neem Coated Urea, three strains of Bio-Fertilizers (solid & liquid) and other allied Industrial products like Ammonia, Nitric Acid, Ammonium Nitrate, Sodium Nitrite and Sodium Nitrate. The company has also started production of certified seeds under its Seeds Multiplication Program for sale under its own brand name as Kisan Beej.
