NHPC electrifies after synchronizing unit of power project

NHPC gained 1.47% to Rs 27.70 at 14:00 IST on BSE after the company said that unit I of Kishanganga hydroelectric project in Jammu & Kashmir has been successfully synchronized with grid on 1 March 2018.

The announcement was made during market hours today, 1 March 2018.

Meanwhile, the S&P BSE Sensex was down 49.06 points, or 0.14% to 34,134.98.

On the BSE, 2.08 lakh shares were traded in the counter so far, compared with average daily volumes of 6.66 lakh shares in the past one quarter. The stock had hit a high of Rs 27.80 and a low of Rs 27.30 so far during the day. The stock had hit a 52-week high of Rs 34.50 on 4 January 2018. The stock had hit a 52-week low of Rs 26.30 on 28 November 2017.

 

The stock had underperformed the market over the past one month till 28 February 2018, falling 7.93% compared with the Sensex's 5.18% fall. The stock had also underperformed the market over the past one quarter, dropping 1.97% as against the Sensex's 1.68% rise. The scrip had also underperformed the market over the past one year, sliding 10.2% as against the Sensex's 18.93% rise.

The large-cap company has equity capital of Rs 10259.32 crore. Face value per share is Rs 10.

NHPC's net profit jumped 220.4% to Rs 687.93 crore on 14.5% rise in net sales to Rs 1497.93 crore in Q3 December 2017 over Q3 December 2016.

NHPC is ranked as a premier organization in the country for development of hydropower.
