Turnover on NSE's F&O segment drops
The April 2016 futures on the Nifty 50 index traded at 7,791.05, a premium of 32.25 points compared with Nifty's closing of 7,758.80 in the cash market. The Nifty May 2016 futures traded at 7,821, a premium of 62.20 points compared with the spot closing for the index.
Turnover on the National Stock Exchange's (NSE) futures and options (F&O) totaled Rs 1.3 lakh crore, which was lower than turnover of Rs 1.74 lakh crore registered during the previous trading session.
In the cash market, the Nifty rose 45.75 points or 0.59% to settle at 7,758.80, its highest closing level since 5 January 2016.
Tata Steel, Reliance Infrastructure (RInfra), Infosys, Reliance Capital, and State Bank of India (SBI) were the top traded individual stock futures contracts on the futures & options (F&O) segment of NSE. Tata Steel April 2016 futures traded at 322.40, at a premium compared with spot closing of 320.85. RInfra April 2016 futures traded at 555.10, at a premium compared with spot closing of 553.30. Infosys April 2016 futures traded at 1,248.65, at a premium compared with spot closing of 1245.30.
Reliance Capital April 2016 futures traded at 385.30, at a premium compared with spot closing of 383.40. SBI April 2016 futures traded at 195.85, at a premium compared with spot closing of 194.75.
The April 2016 F&O contracts are set to expire on 28 April 2016. The May 2016 F&O contracts are set to expire on 26 May 2016.
