Turnover on NSE's F&O segment surges
The April 2016 futures on the Nifty 50 index traded at 7,695.55, a premium of 24.15 points compared with Nifty's closing of 7,671.40 in the cash market. The Nifty May 2016 futures traded at 7,729.80, a premium of 58.40 points compared with the spot closing for the index.
Turnover on the National Stock Exchange's (NSE) futures and options (F&O) totaled Rs 2.38 lakh crore, higher than turnover of Rs 1.69 lakh crore registered during the previous trading session.
In the cash market, the Nifty surged 116.20 points or 1.54% to settle at 7,671.40, its highest closing level since 4 April 2016.
Reliance Infrastructure (RInfra), Tata Steel, Infosys, State Bank of India (SBI) and Reliance Capital were the top traded individual stock futures contracts on the futures & options (F&O) segment of NSE. RInfra April 2016 futures traded at 577.20, at a premium compared with spot closing of 574.80. Tata Steel April 2016 futures traded at 331.90, at a premium compared with spot closing of 330.20. Infosys April 2016 futures traded at 1186.10, at a premium compared with spot closing of 1184.10.
SBI April 2016 futures traded at 189.35, at a premium compared with spot closing of 188.45. Reliance Capital April 2016 futures traded at 386, at a premium compared with spot closing of 384.45.
The April 2016 F&O contracts are set to expire on 28 April 2016. The May 2016 F&O contracts are set to expire on 26 May 2016.
