Nifty Dec 2019 futures cross 12,000 mark

Turnover in F&O segment spurts

The Nifty December 2019 futures were at 12,022.25, a premium of 50.45 points compared with the Nifty's closing of 11,971.80 in the cash market.

Turnover on the National Stock Exchange's futures & options (F&O) segment was Rs 26.02 lakh crore compared with Rs 13.31 lakh crore reported in the previous session.

In the cash market, the Nifty 50 index rose 61.65 points or 0.52% to 11,971.80.

The NSE's India VIX down 0.33% at 13.3325. A fall in volatility indicates stability in benchmark index.

On the options front, the Nifty option chain for 26 December 2019 expiry showed maximum call open interest (OI) of 28.31 lakh at the 12,000 strike price. Maximum put OI of 35.31 lakh contracts was seen at 11,500 strike price. The option chain suggests that the Nifty will trade between 11,500 to 12,000 level in December expiry.

 

State Bank of India, Reliance Industries and Tata Consultancy Services were the top traded individual stock futures contracts in F&O segment of NSE.

State Bank of India December 2019 futures were at 322.60, compared with spot closing price of 321.45. Reliance Industries December 2019 futures were at 1,576.80 compared with spot closing price of 1,571.10. Tata Consultancy Services December 2019 futures were at 2,016, compared with spot closing price of 2,003.

The December 2019 F&O contracts expire on Thursday, 26 December 2019.
