VIX cools off 3%

The Nifty March 2020 futures were at 11,321, a premium of 17.70 points compared with the Nifty's closing of 11,303.30 in the cash market.

Turnover on the National Stock Exchange's futures & options (F&O) segment was Rs 13.98 lakh crore compared with Rs 12.16 lakh crore reported in the previous session.

In the cash market, the Nifty 50 index surged 170.55 points or 1.53% at 11,303.30.

The NSE's India VIX, a gauge of market's expectation of volatility over the near term, fell 2.61% to 24.54.

On the options front, the Nifty option chain for 26 March 2020 expiry showed maximum call open interest (OI) of 25.12 lakh at the 12,000 strike price. Maximum put OI of 25.37 lakh contracts was seen at 11,000 strike price. The option chain indicates that the Nifty will trade between 11,000 to 12,000 levels in March.

 

State Bank of India (SBI), Bajaj Finance and Reliance Industries were the top traded individual stock futures contracts in F&O segment of NSE.

SBI March 2020 futures were at 291.45, compared with spot closing price of 290.50. Bajaj Finance March 2020 futures were at 4,465 compared with spot closing price of 4462.90. Reliance Industries March 2020 futures were at 1,348, compared with spot closing price of 1346.35.

The F&O contracts for March expire on 26 March 2020.
