Nifty Jan futures trade at premium

Options chain suggests a trading range between 12,000 and 12,500 for Nifty in January expiry.

The Nifty January 2020 futures were at 12,377.50, a premium of 14 points compared with the Nifty's closing of 12,352.35 in the cash market.

In the cash market, the Nifty 50 index fell 3.15 points or 0.03% to 12,352.35.

Turnover on the National Stock Exchange's futures & options (F&O) segment was Rs 8.37 lakh crore compared with Rs 32.27 lakh crore reported in the previous session.

The NSE's India VIX, a gauge of market's expectation of volatility over the near term, fell 0.91% to 14.0525.

On the options front, the Nifty option chain for 30 January 2020 expiry showed maximum call open interest (OI) of 30.19 lakh contracts at the 12,500 strike price. Maximum put OI of 41.72 lakh contracts was seen at 12,000 strike price.

 

The option chain indicates that Nifty will hover between 12,000 and 12,500 in the January 2020 series.

Bharti Airtel, SBI and Reliance Industries were the top traded individual stock futures contracts in F&O segment of NSE for January expiry.

Bharti Airtel January 2020 futures were at 498.60, compared with spot closing price of 499.8. SBI January 2020 futures were at 319.35, compared with spot closing price of 318. Reliance Industries January 2020 futures were at 1,583.30, compared with spot closing price of 1581.
