Turnover spurted in F&O segment due to monthly expiry.
The Nifty July 2021 futures were at 15,839.10, a premium of 48.65 points compared with Nifty's spot closing of 15,790.45.Turnover on the National Stock Exchange's futures & options (F&O) segment was Rs 80.99 lakh crore compared with Rs 52.69 lakh crore in the previous session.
In the cash market, the Nifty 50 index jumped 103.50 points or 0.66% to 15,790.45.
The NSE's India VIX, a gauge of market's expectation of volatility over the near term, fell 1.74% to 15.0975.
Reliance Industries, Infosys and State Bank of India were the top traded stock futures contracts in F&O segment for July expiry.
The July F&O contracts will expire on 29 July 2021.
