Nifty June 2016 futures trade at premium to spot price

Turnover on NSE's F&O segment rises

The June 2016 futures on the Nifty 50 index traded at 7744.35, a premium of 13.30 points compared with the Nifty's spot closing of 7,731.05 in the cash market. The May 2016 futures traded at 7739.10, near the spot closing for the index. Turnover on the National Stock Exchange's futures & options (F&O) segment totaled Rs 4.01 lakh crore, higher than turnover of Rs 3.21 lakh crore registered during the previous trading session.

In the cash market, the Nifty fell 18.65 points or 0.24% to settle at 7,731.05, its lowest closing level since 4 May 2016.

 

ITC, HDFC Bank, Reliance Industries (RIL), Tata Steel and ICICI Bank were the top traded individual stock futures contracts on the F&O segment of NSE. ITC May 2016 futures traded at 347.80, near spot closing of 347.35. HDFC Bank May 2016 futures traded at 1136.20, at a premium compared with spot closing of 1134.90. RIL May 2016 futures traded at 934, at a premium compared with spot closing of 931.10.

Tata Steel May 2016 futures traded at 315.30, at a premium compared with spot closing of 314.10. ICICI Bank May 2016 futures traded at 220.80, near spot closing of 220.75.

The May 2016 F&O contracts are set to expire on Thursday, 26 May 2016. The June 2016 F&O contracts are set to expire on 30 June 2016.
