Nifty June 2016 futures trade at premium to spot price

Turnover on NSE's F&O segment drops

The June 2016 futures on the Nifty 50 index traded at 8,230.90, a premium of 29.85 points compared with the Nifty's closing of 8,201.05 in the cash market. The Nifty July 2016 futures traded at 8,256.55, a premium of 55.50 points compared with the spot closing for the index. Turnover on the National Stock Exchange's futures & options (F&O) segment totaled Rs 1.21 lakh crore, which was lower than turnover of Rs 1.51 lakh crore registered during the previous trading session.

In the cash market, the Nifty 50 index fell 19.75 points or 0.24% to settle at 8,201.05, its lowest closing level since 1 June 2016.

 

Tata Motors, State Bank of India (SBI), Yes Bank, Tata Steel and Axis Bank were the top traded individual stock futures contracts in the June 2016 series. Tata Motors June 2016 futures traded at 465.40, at a premium compared with spot closing of 462.55. SBI June 2016 futures traded at 199.80, at a premium compared with spot closing of 198.75. Yes Bank June 2016 futures traded at 1067, matching with its spot closing of 1067.

Tata Steel June 2016 futures traded at 340.50, at a premium compared with spot closing of 338.60. Axis Bank June 2016 futures traded at 537.20, at a premium compared with spot closing of 533.60.

The June 2016 F&O contracts are set to expire on 30 June 2016. The July 2016 F&O contracts are set to expire on 28 July 2016.
