Nifty May 2016 futures trade at premium to spot price

Turnover on NSE's F&O segment declines

The May 2016 futures on the Nifty 50 index traded at 7905.50, a premium of 14.75 points compared with Nifty's closing of 7890.75 in the cash market. The June 2016 futures traded at 7916, a premium of 25.25 points compared with the spot closing of the index. Turnover on the National Stock Exchange's futures & options (F&O) segment totaled Rs 2.63 lakh crore, lower than turnover of Rs 2.71 lakh crore registered during the previous trading session.

In the cash market, the Nifty gained 30 points or 0.38% to settle at 7,890.75.

Yes Bank, Motherson Sumi Systems, Axis Bank, Sun TV Network and State Bank of India were the top traded individual stock futures contracts on the F&O segment of NSE. Yes Bank May 2016 futures traded at 972.55, at a premium compared with spot closing of 969.45. Motherson Sumi Systems May 2016 futures traded at 292, at a premium compared with spot closing of 290.60. Axis Bank May 2016 futures traded at 502.30, at a discount compared with spot closing of 502.75.

 

Sun TV Network May 2016 futures traded at 434.65, at a discount compared with spot closing of 435. State Bank of India May 2016 futures traded at 177.55, at a premium compared with spot closing of 177.10.

The May 2016 F&O contracts are set to expire on 26 May 2016. The June 2016 F&O contracts are set to expire on 30 June 2016.
