Nifty May futures trade at premium

India VIX cools off 5% to 41.28.

The Nifty May 2020 futures were at 9,300.65, a premium of 29.75 points compared with the spot closing at 9,270.90.

Turnover on the National Stock Exchange's futures & options (F&O) segment was Rs 14.76 lakh crore compared with Rs 10.08 lakh crore reported in the previous session.

In the cash market, the Nifty 50 index gained 65.30 points or 0.71% and closed at 9,270.90.

The NSE's India VIX, a gauge of market's expectation of volatility over the near term, slumped 5.33% to 41.28.

On the options front, the Nifty option chain for 28 May 2020 expiry showed maximum call open interest (OI) of 15.01 lakh at the 10,000 strike price. Maximum put OI of 24.90 lakh contracts was seen at 9,000 strike price.

 

Reliance Industries (RIL), Axis Bank and Bharti Airtel were the top traded individual stock futures contracts in F&O segment of NSE. RIL May 2020 futures were at 1,462.50, compared with spot closing price of 1461.50. Axis Bank May 2020 futures were at 395.50 compared with spot closing price of 393.50. Bharti Airtel May 2020 futures were at 544.60, compared with spot closing price of 546

The F&O contracts for May will expire on 28 May 2020.
