Nifty May futures trade at premium

India VIX slumps 4%

The Nifty May 2020 futures were at 8,891.05, a premium of 11.95 points compared with the spot closing at 8,879.10.

Turnover on the National Stock Exchange's futures & options (F&O) segment was at Rs 10.85 lakh crore compared with Rs 9.03 lakh crore in the previous session.

In the cash market, the Nifty 50 index gained 55.85 or 0.63% and closed at 8,879.10.

The NSE's India VIX, a gauge of market's expectation of volatility over the near term, slumped 4.42% to 39.105.

On the options front, the Nifty option chain for 28 May 2020 expiry showed maximum call open interest (OI) of 23.87 lakh at the 10,000 strike price. Maximum put OI of 22.88 lakh contracts was seen at 9,000 strike price.

 

Bharti Airtel, Reliance Industries (RIL) and ICICI Bank were the top traded individual stock futures contracts in F&O segment of NSE. Bharti Airtel May 2020 futures were at 594.70, compared with spot closing price of 596.20. RIL May 2020 futures were at 1,412.50 compared with spot closing price of 1409.10. ICICI Bank May 2020 futures were at 300.95, compared with spot closing price of 300.80.

The F&O contracts for May will expire on 28 May 2020.
