NMDC gained 3.14% to Rs 108.50 at 09:28 IST on BSE after the company reported rise in total production and sales of iron ore in May 2019 over May 2018.
The announcement was made after market hours yesterday, 18 June 2019.Meanwhile, the S&P BSE Sensex was up 370.71 points, or 0.95% to 39,417.05
On the BSE, 39,000 shares were traded in the counter so far compared with average daily volumes of 4.76 lakh shares in the past two weeks. The stock had hit a high of Rs 109.35 and a low of Rs 107 so far during the day.
NMDC said that total production of iron ore on a provisional basis rose to 3.04 million tonnes (MT) in May 2019 from 2.12 MT in May 2018. Total sales of iron ore on a provisional basis rose to 3.37 MT in May 2019 from 2.31 MT in May 2018.
NMDC's net profit rose 31.46% to Rs 1453.77 crore on 5.27% fall in total income to Rs 3839.40 crore in Q4 March 2019 over Q4 March 2018.
NMDC is India's single largest iron ore producer.
