NTPC gains after commissioning unit of power station

NTPC rose 0.31% to Rs 127.75 at 9:25 IST on BSE after the company announced that the unit-4 of 195 megawatts of Muzaffarpur Thermal Power Station of company's subsidiary, Kanti Bijlee Utpadan Nigam was commissioned on 24 March 2016.

The announcement was made on Friday, 25 March 2016. Stock markets had remained closed on 24 and 25 March 2016 on account of holidays.

Meanwhile, the S&P BSE Sensex was up 23.22 points or 0.09% at 25,360.78.

On BSE, so far 2,753 shares were traded in the counter as against average daily volume of 3.28 lakh shares in the past two weeks. The stock hit a high of Rs 128 and a low of Rs 127.30 so far during the day.

 

The large-cap company has equity capital of Rs 8245.46 crore. Face value per share is Rs 10.

NTPC said that with the commissioning of the unit, the total installed capacity of Muzzafarpur Thermal Power Station has become 610 megawatts (MW) and the total installed capacity of NTPC group has become 45993 MW.

NTPC's net profit fell 18.9% to Rs 2492.87 crore on 7.6% decline in net sales to Rs 17317.50 crore in Q3 December 2015 over Q3 December 2014.

NTPC, India's largest power company, has presence in the entire value chain of power generation business.
