Auto market de-growth continues exports of passenger vehicles & two wheelers positive says SIAM
As per the data report from by Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM), the sales of commercial vehicles witnessed a dip of 39.06% in September 2019 as compared to September 2018.A dip of 33.40% has been registered in the sales of passenger cars in September 2019 as compared to September 2018. Sales of utility vehicles increased 5.49% in September 2019 as compared to September 2018. Sales of vans dipped 42.66% in September 2019 as compared to September 2018.
Three-wheelers sales saw a decline of 3.92% in September 2019 as compared to September 2018. Two-wheelers saw a dip in sales by 22.09% in September 2019 as compared to September 2018.
The sale of passenger vehicles declined by (-) 23.56% in April-September 2019 over the same period last year. Within the passenger vehicles, the sales for passenger cars, utility vehicle & vans declined by (-) 30.30%, (-) 3.78% and (-) 35.46% respectively in April-September 2019 over the same period last year.
The overall commercial vehicles segment registered a decline of (-) 22.95% in April-September 2019 as compared to the same period last year. Medium & Heavy Commercial Vehicles (M&HCVs) declined by (-) 35.79% and light commercial vehicles declined by (-) 14.69% in April-September 2019 over the same period last year.
Three wheelers sales declined by (-) 6.66% in April-September 2019 over the same period last year. Within the Three wheelers, passenger carrier sales registered a de-growth of (-) 6.37% and Goods Carrier declined by (-) 7.98% in April-September 2019 over April-September 2018.
Two wheelers sales registered a de-growth of (-) 16.18% in April-September 2019 over April-September 2018. Within the Two Wheelers segment, scooters, motorcycles and mopeds declined by (-) 16.94%, (-) 15.24% and (-) 25.33% respectively in April-September 2019 over April-September 2018.

Production
A total of 2,406,640 vehicles, including passenger, commercial, three-wheelers, two-wheelers & quadricycle were produced in September 2019 as against 2,945,431 in September 2018, witnessing a total decline of 18.29%.
The industry produced a total 14,427,724 vehicles in April-September 2019 as against 16,645,330 in April-September 2018, registering a de-growth (-) 13.32% over the same period last year.
Exports
Total exports of commercial vehicles dipped by 29.53%, while total exports of passenger vehicles increased by 5.64%, in September 2019 as compared to September 2018.
Total exports of two-wheelers grew by 2.10% while three-wheelers segment dipped by 7.60%, in September 2019 as compared to September 2018.
In April-September 2019, overall automobile exports grew by 1.29% where passenger vehicles and two wheelers exports grew by 4.38% and 4.10% respectively. However, commercial vehicles and three wheelers registered a de-growth of (-) 41.58%, and (-) 11.59% respectively in April-September 2019 over the same period last year.
