Seafood exporters tumble after US hikes anti-dumping duty

Shares of three companies related to shrimp production fell by 1.36% to 3.3% at 12:01 IST on BSE after the United States hiked anti-dumping duty on Indian shrimp exports to 2.34% from earlier 0.84%.

Avanti Feeds (down 3.3%), Waterbase (down 3.3%) and Apex Frozen Foods (down 1.36%), edged lower.

The S&P BSE Sensex was up 309.46 points, or 0.93% at 33,616.60.

The United States of America, the largest market for Indian seafood, has enhanced the anti-dumping duty on the shrimps to 2.34% from 0.84%. The Department of Commerce (DoC) has preliminarily determined that certain frozen warmwater shrimp from India is being sold in the United States at less than normal value during the period of review (POR) 1 February 2016 to 31 January 2017.
