Siemens turns volatile after Q2 results

Siemens was down 0.48% at Rs 1,169.75 at 9:36 IST on BSE after net profit rose 9.61% to Rs 177.42 crore on 4.76% increase in total income to Rs 2810.59 crore in Q2 March 2016 over Q2 March 2015.

The result was announced after market hours on Friday, 6 May 2016.

Meanwhile, the BSE Sensex was up 286.48 points, or 1.14%, to 25,514.98.

On BSE, so far 12,000 shares were traded in the counter, compared with an average volume of 27,297 shares in the past one quarter. Trading on the counter was volatile. The stock rose 2.86% at the day's high of Rs 1,209. The stock fell 0.71% at the day's low of Rs 1,167. The stock hit a 52-week high of Rs 1,558 on 6 August 2015. The stock hit a 52-week low of Rs 969 on 29 January 2016. The stock had outperformed the market over the past one month till 6 May 2016, rising 4.17% compared with 1.32% rise in the Sensex. The scrip had also outperformed the market in past one quarter, rising 13.38% as against Sensex's 2.48% rise.

 

The large-cap company has an equity capital of Rs 71.22 crore. Face value per share is Rs 2.

Siemens' revenue rose 5.3% to Rs 2725 crore in Q2 March 2016 over Q2 March 2015. The company reported an exceptional item of Rs 6 crore in Q2 March 2015. Net profit before exceptional items rose 13.7% in Q2 March 2016 over Q2 March 2015.

The company reported 10.5% rise in new orders to Rs 2939 crore in Q2 March 2016 over Q2 March 2015.

The company announced that it received shareholders' approval for the sale and transfer of its healthcare undertaking as a going concern to Siemens Healthcare, a subsidiary of Siemens AG, effective from 1 July 2016.
