SJVN rose 1.62% to Rs 25.10 at 9:49 IST on BSE after the company said it commissioned all six units of 412 megawatts Rampur Hydro Electric Project in Himachal Pradesh.
The announcement was made after market hours on Friday, 5 December 2014.
Meanwhile, the BSE Sensex was almost flat at 28,457.57.
On BSE, so far 1.17 lakh shares were traded in the counter, compared with an average volume of 2.63 lakh shares in the past one quarter.
The stock hit a high of Rs 25.45 and a low of Rs 24.85 so far during the day. The stock hit a 52-week high of Rs 27.65 on 22 May 2014. The stock hit a 52-week low of Rs 19.90 on 18 February 2014.
The stock had outperformed the market over the past one month till 5 December 2014, rising 3.56% compared with 1.94% rise in the Sensex. The scrip had also outperformed the market in past one quarter, rising 6.93% as against Sensex's 5.30% rise.
The large-cap company has an equity capital of Rs 4136.62 crore. Face value per share is Rs 10.
SJVN announced that the 412 megawatts (MW) Rampur Power Project of the company, located on river Satluj in Himachal Pradesh stands fully commissioned on 4 December 2014 with the commissioning of the last i.e. 6th vertical axis Francis turbine unit of 412 MW Rampur Power Project.
The SJVN's 412 MW Rampur Power Project having total six vertical axis Francis turbine units each having capacity of 68.67 MW will generate 1,770 million units of electricity every year. Out of which 30% of power will be supplied to the home state Himachal Pradesh which is SJVN's equity partner, in addition to 12% free power. The balance power will be supplied to the Northern Grid states namely Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, J&K, Punjab, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Chandigarh & Delhi, the company said.
Net profit of SJVN rose 91.70% to Rs 796.78 crore on 90.78% rise in net sales to Rs 1209.75 crore in Q2 September 2014 over Q2 September 2013.
SJVN (formerly Satluj Jal Vidyut Nigam) was incorporated on 24 May 1988 as a joint venture of the Government of India (GoI) and the state government of Himachal Pradesh (GOHP) to plan, investigate, organize, execute, operate and maintain hydro-electric power projects. Beginning from a single hydropower project company, SJVN today has a footprint in a diversified set of power projects, which includes hydroelectric projects in Himachal Pradesh, Uttrakhand, Aurnachal Pradesh and in the neighboring countries of Nepal and Bhutan, a thermal power project in Bihar, a power transmission project in Nepal, wind power project in Maharashtra and solar power projects in Gujarat & Rajasthan.
