State governments announce market borrowings of Rs 2.19-2.26 trillion for Jan-Mar 2019 period

Actual amount of borrowings and participating states would be intimated two/three days prior to actual auction day

The Reserve Bank of India, in consultation with the State Governments, has announced the quantum of total market borrowings by the State Governments for the quarter January - March 2019 to be in the range of Rs 219056 crore to Rs 225587 crore.

The state wise borrowing in Rs crore is as follows

Andhra Pradesh - 2869

Assam - 4696

Bihar - 14300

Chhattisgarh - 10225

Gujarat - 12000

Haryana - 1500

Himachal Pradesh - 2700

Jammu & Kashmir - 2600

Jharkhand - 500

 

Karnataka - 22000

Kerala - 5500

Madhya Pradesh - 8200

Maharashtra - 28000

Meghalaya - 550

Mizoram - 400

Nagaland - 370

Odisha - 7532

Punjab - 5322

Rajasthan - 9420

Sikkim - 367

Tamilnadu - 18000

Telangana - 7400

Tripura - 400

Uttarakhand - 2250

Uttar Pradesh - 25500

West Bengal - 26455

The actual amount of borrowings and the details of the states participating would be intimated by way of press releases two/three days prior to the actual auction day and would depend on the requirement of the State Governments, approval from the Government of India under Article 293(3) of the Constitution of India and the market conditions.

RBI would endeavour to conduct the auctions in a non-disruptive manner, taking into account the market conditions and other relevant factors and distribute the borrowings evenly throughout the quarter. RBI reserves the right to modify the dates and the amount of auction in consultation with State Governments.
