The Solvent Extractors' Association (SEA) forecasts the bumper rapeseed crop in the current year (2019-20) at 77.80 lakh tons, estimating a rise of 3.73%. In the previous year, SEA had projected the production at 75.00 lakh tons of rape mustard in India. The total acreage under the crop was estimated marginally lower at 69.51 lakh hectare from 69.76 lakh hectare in the previous year as per the Ministry of Agriculture's data. However, increased productivity yielded the year-on-year rise in production. Overall, the rapeseed yield in the current year is estimated to increase by 4% to 1119 kg per hectare from 1,075 kg per hectare in the last year.
