Tata Motors hits 52-week low

Tata Motors fell 1.67% to Rs 423.15 at 11:41 IST on BSE after the company's British luxury car unit Jaguar Land Rover announced its monthly sales data for the month of May 2015 yesterday, 11 June 2015.

Meanwhile, the S&P BSE Sensex was up 34.90 points or 0.13% at 26,405.88.

On BSE, so far 2.68 lakh shares were traded in the counter as against average daily volume of 5.12 lakh shares in the past one quarter.

The stock hit a low of Rs 421.45 so far during the day, which is a 52-week low for the counter. The stock hit a high of Rs 431 so far during the day. The stock had hit a record high of Rs 605.57 on 3 February 2015.

 

The stock had underperformed the market over the past one month till 11 June 2015, sliding 18.75% compared with Sensex's 4.13% fall. The scrip had also underperformed the market in past one quarter, declining 21.07% as against Sensex's 7.98% fall.

The large-cap company has equity capital of Rs 577.47 crore. Face value per share is Rs 2.

Tata Motors' British luxury car unit Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) reported retail sales of 38,017 vehicles in May 2015. Land Rover delivered a solid performance in the month, with 32,412 vehicles and Jaguar retailed 5,605 vehicles. JLR has not given comparitive data.

JLR said it plans 12 new vehicles and model year updates set to impress in 2015. The Land Rover Discovery Sport which is outselling the Freelander has already achieved a global order bank of over 50,000 vehicles, since it went on sale earlier this year, JLR said. The Jaguar XE, the first of a series of all-new Jaguar models, has had a very strong start with around 25,000 vehicles already ordered, it added. Customer deliveries of the XE begin this month in the UK, followed by Europe and then the Overseas markets, JLR said.

Tata Motors' consolidated net profit declined 56.2% to Rs 1716.50 crore on 4% growth in net sales to Rs 67297.99 crore in Q4 March 2015 over Q4 March 2014.
