Tata Steel bucks trend on bargain hunting

Tata Steel rose 1.85% to Rs 220.20 at 15:25 IST on BSE on bargain hunting after the stock fell 5.38% in the preceding two trading sessions to Rs 216.20 on 1 September 2015, from a recent high of Rs 228.50 on 28 August 2015.

Meanwhile, the BSE Sensex was down 237.07 points, or 0.92%, to 25,459.37.

On BSE, so far 18.90 lakh shares were traded in the counter, compared with an average volume of 10.75 lakh shares in the past one quarter.

The stock hit a high of Rs 225.90 and a low of Rs 210.60 so far during the day. The stock hit a 52-week high of Rs 531 on 3 September 2014. The stock hit a 52-week low of Rs 200.40 on 25 August 2015.

 

The stock had underperformed the market over the past one month till 1 September 2015, falling 12.58% compared with 8.60% fall in the Sensex. The scrip had also underperformed the market in past one quarter, falling 34.33% as against Sensex's 7.73% decline.

The large-cap company has an equity capital of Rs 971.22 crore. Face value per share is Rs 10.

Tata Steel's consolidated net profit jumped 126.2% to Rs 762.96 crore on 17.7% fall in total income to Rs 31220.93 crore in Q1 June 2015 over Q1 June 2014.

Tata Steel is one of the biggest global steel companies.
