Shares of seven tea companies rose by 0.10% to 4.95% at 15:20 IST on BSE on reports of drought in Kenya.

Duncans Industries (up 4.95%), Asian Tea & Exports (up 4.06%), Warren Tea (up 2.55%), McLeod Russel India (up 1.76%), Diana Tea (up 0.52%) and Assam Company India (up 0.44%) and Harrisons Malayalam (up 0.10%), edged higher.

Jay Shree Tea & Industries (down 0.37%), Tata Global Beverages (down 1.64%) and Goodricke Group (down 1.78%), edged lower.

The S&P BSE Sensex was down 246.56 points, or 0.85% at 28,797.88.

A drought in Kenya, the world's biggest tea producer, could lift global tea prices.

Higher tea prices could boost export revenues for domestic tea companies.
