Telecom stocks were trading in the positive zone, with the S&P BSE Telecom index rising 9.41 points or 0.84% at 1133.14 at 09:48 IST.
Among the components of the S&P BSE Telecom index, Optiemus Infracom Ltd (up 4.08%), Sterlite Technologies Ltd (up 2.98%),Bharti Infratel Ltd (up 1.7%),Tejas Networks Ltd (up 1.48%),HFCL Ltd (up 0.85%), were the top gainers. Among the other gainers were OnMobile Global Ltd (up 0.82%), and Bharti Airtel Ltd (up 0.66%).
On the other hand, Reliance Communications Ltd (down 3.37%), ITI Ltd (down 3.11%), and Vodafone Idea Ltd (down 0.64%) moved lower.
At 09:48 IST, the S&P BSE Sensex was up 69.86 or 0.17% at 41522.21.
The Nifty 50 index was up 22.35 points or 0.18% at 12238.25.
The S&P BSE Small-Cap index was up 55.94 points or 0.4% at 14145.06.
The S&P BSE 150 Midcap Index index was up 9.58 points or 0.2% at 4860.04.
On BSE,945 shares were trading in green, 508 were trading in red and 76 were unchanged.
