Telecom shares tumble

Telecom stocks were trading in the negative zone, with the S&P BSE Telecom index falling 53.89 points or 5.19% at 985.42 at 13:52 IST.

Among the components of the S&P BSE Telecom index, Bharti Airtel Ltd (down 6.1%), OnMobile Global Ltd (down 5.62%),Optiemus Infracom Ltd (down 4.97%),Vindhya Telelinks Ltd (down 4.71%),Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Ltd (down 3.72%), were the top losers. Among the other losers were Tejas Networks Ltd (down 3.43%), Sterlite Technologies Ltd (down 1.91%), HFCL Ltd (down 1.4%), and Vodafone Idea Ltd (down 0.61%).

On the other hand, ITI Ltd (up 7.23%), and Bharti Infratel Ltd (up 0.51%) moved up.

 

At 13:52 IST, the S&P BSE Sensex was up 5.67 or 0.02% at 29952.44.

The Nifty 50 index was up 53.1 points or 0.61% at 8694.55.

The S&P BSE Small-Cap index was up 21.22 points or 0.22% at 9491.67.

The S&P BSE 150 Midcap Index index was down 32.43 points or 0.94% at 3417.28.

On BSE,1053 shares were trading in green, 1118 were trading in red and 141 were unchanged.
