Thermax slips after weak Q3 outcome

Thermax fell 1.05% to Rs 660 at 09:42 IST on BSE after net profit fell 12.73% to Rs 66.64 crore on 2.13% decline in total income to Rs 1036.68 crore in Q3 December 2013 over Q3 December 2012.

The company announced the results after trading hours on Tuesday, 21 January 2014.

Meanwhile, the BSE Sensex was down 12.76 points, or 0.06%, to 21,238.36.

On BSE, so far 981 shares were traded in the counter, compared with an average volume of 7,650 shares in the past one quarter.

The stock hit a high of Rs 665 and a low of Rs 650.90 so far during the day. The stock hit a 52-week high of Rs 718 on 31 December 2013. The stock hit a 52-week low of Rs 526 on 5 September 2013.

 

The stock had outperformed the market over the past one month till 21 January 2014, rising 0.96% compared with the Sensex's 0.81% rise. The scrip had also outperformed the market in past one quarter, rising 9.13% as against Sensex's 1.71% rise.

The mid-cap company has an equity capital of Rs 23.83 crore. Face value per share is Rs 2.

Thermax improved its order intake by 6.31% to Rs 1365 crore in Q3 December 2013 as against Rs 1284 crore in Q3 December 2012.

On a consolidated basis, the order backlog of the group rose by 24% to Rs 6445 crore as on 31 December 2013 compared with Rs 5191 crore as on 31 December 2012.

Thermax has to suspend operations which are not significant at the company's Mundra special economic zone (SEZ) plant following a recent order from the Gujarat high court, the company said. Last week, the court had ordered the closure of 12 industrial units in the SEZ due to lack of environmental clearances. The company has approached Supreme Court with Special Leave Petition against the said Order.
