Turnover on NSE's F&O segment jumps

Nifty July futures trade at premium to spot price

The June 2016 futures on the Nifty 50 index traded at 8075.60, at a discount of 13 points compared with Nifty's closing of 8088.60 in the cash market. The Nifty July 2016 futures traded at 8109.60, a premium of 21 points compared with the spot closing for the index. Turnover on the National Stock Exchange's futures & options (F&O) segment jumped to Rs 6.48 lakh crore from turnover of Rs 3.57 lakh crore registered yesterday, 23 June 2016.

In the cash market, the Nifty slumped 181.85 points or 2.2% to settle at 8,088.60, its lowest closing level since 26 May 2016.

 

Tata Motors, State Bank of India (SBI), Yes Bank, Tata Steel, Axis Bank and ICICI Bank were the top traded individual stock futures contracts in F&O segment of NSE. Tata Motors June 2016 futures traded at 448.85, at a premium compared with spot closing of 447.70. SBI June 2016 futures traded at 211.30, near spot closing of 211. Yes Bank June 2016 futures traded at 1080, at a premium compared with spot closing of 1078.95.

Tata Steel June 2016 futures traded at 312.50, at a premium compared with spot closing of 311.95. Axis Bank June 2016 futures traded at 509.70, at a premium to spot closing of 509. ICICI Bank June 2016 futures traded at 231.75, at a premium compared with the stock's spot closing of 231.40.

The June 2016 F&O contracts are set to expire on 30 June 2016. The July 2016 F&O contracts are set to expire on 28 July 2016.
