Nifty December 2016 futures trade at premium to spot price
The Nifty December 2016 futures traded at 8,179.50, a premium of 71.05 points compared with the Nifty's closing of 8,108.45 in the cash market. The November 2016 futures on the Nifty 50 index traded at 8,126.35, a premium of 17.90 points compared with the Nifty's closing in the cash market. Turnover on the National Stock Exchange's futures & options (F&O) segment rose to Rs 5 lakh crore from turnover of Rs 4.77 lakh crore registered on Friday, 11 November 2016.
In the cash market, the Nifty 50 index slumped 187.85 points or 2.26% to settle at 8,108.45, its lowest closing level since 27 June 2016.
State Bank of India (SBI), Bank of Baroda, Vedanta, Maruti Suzuki India, and Tata Motors were the top traded individual stock futures contracts in F&O segment of NSE. SBI November 2016 futures traded at 278.75, at a premium compared with spot closing of 278. Bank of Baroda November 2016 futures traded at 174.80, at a premium compared with spot closing of 173.90. Vedanta November 2016 futures traded at 210.90, at a premium compared with spot closing of 209.75.
Maruti November 2016 futures traded at 4,856.65, at a premium over spot closing of 4,830. Tata Motors November 2016 futures traded at 460.30, at a premium compared with spot closing of 460.20.
The November 2016 F&O contracts are set to expire on 24 November 2016. The December 2016 F&O contracts are set to expire on 29 December 2016.
