Vijaya Bank advances on bargain hunting

Vijaya Bank rose 4.09% to Rs 53.50 at 15:21 IST on BSE on bargain hunting after sliding 14.04% in the preceding five trading sessions to settle at Rs 51.40 yesterday, 8 March 2018, from its close of Rs 59.80 on 28 February 2018.

Meanwhile, the S&P BSE Sensex was down 34.54 points, or 0.1% at 33,317.03. The S&P BSE Mid-Cap index was down 44.88 points, or 0.28% at 15,998.67.

On the BSE, 5.25 lakh shares were traded on the counter so far as against the average daily volumes of 2.05 lakh shares in the past two weeks. The stock had hit a high of Rs 54.45 and a low of Rs 51.80 so far during the day. The stock had hit a 52-week high of Rs 97.40 on 9 May 2017 and a 52-week low of Rs 50.80 on 8 March 2018.

 

The mid-cap bank has equity capital of Rs 1109.87 crore. Face value per share is Rs 10.

Vijaya Bank's net profit dropped 65.45% to Rs 79.56 crore on 7.1% fall in total income to Rs 3450.81 crore in Q3 December 2017 over Q3 December 2016.

The Government of India held 63.3% stake in Vijaya Bank as at 31 December 2017.
