Volumes jump at Bhel counter

Asian Paints, Welspun India, Ajanta Pharma and P I Industries are among the other stocks to see a surge in volumes on BSE today, 3 March 2014.

Bharat Heavy Electricals (Bhel) clocked volume of 11.46 crore shares by 13:38 IST on BSE, a 305.08-times surge over two-week average daily volume of 3.76 lakh shares. The stock lost 2.63% to Rs 162.80, with the stock sliding on profit booking after recent rally after the company said it has bagged a prestigious engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract valued at around Rs 7900 crore for setting up a power project involving three coal-fired supercritical thermal units of 660 megawatts (MW) each.

 

Asian Paints notched up volume of 18.74 lakh shares, a 43.12-fold surge over two-week average daily volume of 43,000 shares. The stock lost 0.2% at Rs 472.

Welspun India saw volume of 12.11 lakh shares, a 11.04-fold surge over two-week average daily volume of 1.10 lakh shares. The stock rose 0.88% at Rs 103.55.

Ajanta Pharma clocked volume of 93,000 shares, a 6.69-fold surge over two-week average daily volume of 14,000 shares. The stock rose 3.01% at Rs 1,071.10.

P I Industries saw volume of 3.59 lakh shares, a 6.68-fold rise over two-week average daily volume of 54,000 shares. The stock rose 2.68% at Rs 261.
