NHPC clocked volume of 70.63 lakh shares by 13:43 IST on BSE, a 16.47-times surge over two-week average daily volume of 4.29 lakh shares. The stock lost 0.54% at Rs 18.50.
Tata Motors DVR notched up volume of 5.28 lakh shares, a 10.6-fold surge over two-week average daily volume of 50,000 shares. The stock lost 1.53% at Rs 193.15.
Bharti Airtel saw volume of 10.27 lakh shares, a 5.89-fold surge over two-week average daily volume of 1.74 lakh shares. The stock lost 3.83% at Rs 318.85 as the surprise decision of Reliance Industries (RIL) to join the bidding for upcoming telecom spectrum auction slated for 3 February 2014 raised concerns of aggressive bidding in the auction which in turn could have an adverse impact on balance sheet of telecom firms.
HCL Technologies saw volume of 2.34 lakh shares, a 5.49-fold rise over two-week average daily volume of 43,000 shares. The stock rose 3.24% to Rs 1,378.65 after the company reported good Q2 result before trading hours. The company's consolidated net profit rose 5.7% to Rs 1496 crore on 2.8% increase in revenue to Rs 8184 crore in Q2 December 2013 over Q1 September 2013. The results are as per US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (US GAAP).
Cummins India clocked volume of 1.08 lakh shares, a 5.4-fold surge over two-week average daily volume of 20,000 shares. The stock rose 0.77% at Rs 468.20.
