Volumes jump at United Spirits counter

DIC India, ABB India, Novartis India and Sun Pharma Advanced Research Company are among the other stocks to see a surge in volumes on BSE today, 26 November 2013.

United Spirits clocked volume of 67.55 lakh shares by 12:49 IST on BSE, a 48.21-times surge over two-week average daily volume of 1.40 lakh shares. The stock fell 0.83% to Rs 2,599 after the Office of Fair Trading (OFT), UK on Monday, 25 November 2013, said it is considering an offer from Diageo plc (Diageo) to sell most of its Whyte & Mackay business to address competition concerns regarding bottled blended Scotch whisky, arising from Diageo's acquisition of United Spirits.

 

DIC India notched up volume of 1.57 lakh shares, a 47.90-fold surge over two-week average daily volume of 3,000 shares. The stock surged 18.25% to Rs 334.40, extending Monday's 20% spurt triggered by the company's promoter proposing a voluntary delisting offer. The company made the announcement after market hours on Friday, 22 November 2013. The stock surged 20% to Rs 282.80 on Monday, 25 November 2013.

ABB India saw volume of 2.47 lakh shares, a 12.96-fold surge over two-week average daily volume of 19,000 shares. The stock jumped 9.03% to Rs 666.80.

Novartis India clocked volume of 1.72 lakh shares, a 6.42-fold surge over two-week average daily volume of 27,000 shares. The stock rose 10.90% to Rs 447.25.

Sun Pharma Advanced Research Company saw volume of 11.31 lakh shares, a 5.93-fold rise over two-week average daily volume of 1.91 lakh shares. The stock rose 6.46% to Rs 154.05.
