At least ten rebels of the A'chik Matgrik Elite Force (AMEF) surrendered in Meghalaya's North Garo Hills district on Friday, police said.
"They surrendered following pressure due to the ongoing counter-insurgency operations and public pressure against the militants activities Ain Garo Hills region," Meghalaya police chief Rajiv Mehta, said.
Saljatchi Marak, a senior member of the group, led the rebels to surrender before Deputy Inspector General of Police (Western Range) S.S.Kynjing at Samgrak village in the presence of more than 500 people.
